I would use this website as a supplement to the students actually completing a dissection. The website acts as a virtual dissection of a frog. I would have students complete the virtual dissection before completing the physical dissection as a pre-lab. Students would have an understanding of the procedures involved in the dissection the materials they will be working with and the parts of the frog we will be looking for. The virtual dissection could also be used instead of a physical dissection if frogs are not available in the school.
How do you think students would benefit from using the site:
This site is a demo for a software program that your school can purchase that provides a advantageous science resource package; particularly for Biology. The program comes with different specimens to dissect as well as other activities and quizzes. This particular activity if used only as a virtual dissection saves the school money from buying specimens over and over again. If students are actually dissecting can be used a guide for the students. If the school subscribes to the program the students can extend their exploring of biology through the various activities that are available. This would enhance student learning because of the visual guidance that this website has. It gives students visual directions to perform an actual dissection or provides students with a pre-lab to perform a dissection.
